2018 A Year In Review

2018 was a very successful year, increasing our reach by 50% in four parishes in Fort Portal, Uganda. We now serve 65 elderly and their families, giving them dignity in their lives. We’ve set our sights higher in 2019 with a goal of constructing permanent housing for more families and providing a more sustainable way of living for the elderly. With your support, we can bring hope to the elderly and transform their lives.

Upcoming Projects

For 2018, Kiboha Together is planning to purchase land on which to construct group homes for seniors who are currently homeless. The first homes we intend to construct will have 6 rooms for 3 families, with each family having 2 rooms. Each family will also have their own outdoor lavatory (pit latrine). We also plan to cultivate this land in order to feed the families. The estimated cost for this project is $5000, which we hope to raise over the next coming months.

In the Community

Through our community partners and church leaders, we are able to get to the seniors with the most need.

Maria Kabonesa lives in a grass thatched house, where she has barely enough food to sustain herself. In early 2017, she was admitted to the hospital with severe anemia amongst other ailments.  Through our partner on the ground, Father Simon Alituha, a local priest for Butiti Parish, Maria was able to get transportation to the health center to receive treatment. We have also provided Maria with food and vegetables, which has led to her recovery. Maria looks after her 3 grandchildren, who have been orphaned from HIV/AIDS. The support we provide Maria also goes to the provision of her 3 grandchildren. Father Simon regularly checks on Maria, and also offers her a stipend, which provides her with financial stability and independence.
