Through our community partners and church leaders, we are able to get to the seniors with the most need.
Maria Kabonesa lives in a grass thatched house, where she has barely enough food to sustain herself. In early 2017, she was admitted to the hospital with severe anemia amongst other ailments. Through our partner on the ground, Father Simon Alituha, a local priest for Butiti Parish, Maria was able to get transportation to the health center to receive treatment. We have also provided Maria with food and vegetables, which has led to her recovery. Maria looks after her 3 grandchildren, who have been orphaned from HIV/AIDS. The support we provide Maria also goes to the provision of her 3 grandchildren. Father Simon regularly checks on Maria, and also offers her a stipend, which provides her with financial stability and independence.
